Navigating the Market through COVID
No one can fully understand or could have predicted how the Real Estate market turned throughout the pandemic. After more than a year of staying pretty close to home, getting restless to switch it up for travel, play, go to concerts and all the other things we miss is normal.
Yes, that restlessness has affected real estate. People have been restless to make a move or improve their home situation.
I am not an analyst, but one thing I know for sure is this:
We have spent a long span of spending time at home. Many of us are keen to set goals for the future for the heart of our lives, our homes. The pandemic has taught us a lot about what we dream of having or not having in a new home sweet home. Many are turning thoughts to shifting their real estate home situation due to the circumstances of COVID. Everyone’s situation is different but I see examples of these scenarios multiple times:
The employee commuting into the big city for 9-5:00 pre-COVID from their small condo or apartment now works from home and expects to for the long haul. Suddenly new communities further from home, creating the affordability and lifestyle desired is attainable.
The family that has had dreams to move to a larger home, but resisted until their children were finished the school year, suddenly has children learning from home and the flexibility to move with less transition for everyone involved.
The adventurous young couple who have been saving thousands of dollars due to closures, travel restrictions and unavailable entertainment are more ready than they ever dreamed with a downpayment for their first home.
First-time Home Buyers who need more space to fulfill their hobbies, nourish their wellness with green space (yard) or a yoga mat to exercise or require a home office anxiously have made a home purchase a priority more than ever before.
Many people currently in tight rental quarters realize that there might be ways to get themselves into the housing market. People are being nudged toward owning their first home to create room for COVID and post-COVID realities:
Working or learning from home
Spending more time outside on our own property
Needing to create space for lost hobbies such as yoga, gym and creative activities
Perhaps the real estate market during COVID has been interesting to watch but too nerve-wracking to become a part of. No one expected the pandemic to last as long as it has, nor did the house prices in the real estate market expect to continue to rise. Navigating the real estate market may be easier than you think. If you are ready to make a move and tired of waiting till the pandemic is over, I can help you navigate the market to make it work for you. It may be the best time to jump in and test the waters.
